FISHES! The reason I wanted the pond in the first place!
My first experience with Koi was in high school at a restaurant in Honolulu Hawaii. In the middle of the place was an open to the sky fish pond filled with these huge gorgeous fish. The waiter threw in a roll. It was instant boiling water!!
I was mesmerized and enjoyed them the entire dinner. I was also hooked onto a dream...
Well high school was..well, shall we say... it was a long time ago. ;)

Here are the pictures of the koi currently here. I've given some away as I've learned to appreciate better koi, some have met with accidents which is part of the learning curve..a very hard part.

Spice is a ginrin (sparklie scales) Chagoi

Gillyghan is a Shusui that came here with a torn gill plate. It has healed very nicely and most would never know there had been a problem.

Maggie came home at the same time as Gillyghan. The coloration has changed quite drastically from this picture. She is a Ochiba Shigure, but the brown coloration has taken over and she is almost now a Chagoi. It will be interesting to see what she looks like next summer in the big pond. These three fish are domestic bred from Springbrook Koi Farm in Oregon. The rest of the fish I got from there are gone =:( Someone wasn't watching when doing a water change..NEVER leave running water unattended or without being monitored somehow.
